Professor Adams studied at the Universities of Paisley and Glasgow and
graduated with a degree in Public Policy and a PhD in manpower planning.
He has worked in East Africa at the University of Dar es Salaam Research
Bureau, and in Mauritius, South Africa and Hong Kong. Currently
Professor Adams is the Director of the China-EU Research Centre based at
Napier University in Edinburgh. He has published widely in the field of
economics in both national and international academic journals, is the
co-author of several textbooks and an external examiner at the
Universities of Dundee and Hong Kong.
Professor Adams has also undertaken consultancy assignments for a wide
range of public and private sector organisations in the UK. He is
currently a visiting Professor at three universities in China. His
research is mainly focused on economic development and the effect of
labour market changes on the process of development.
Professor Adams is the Programme Leader at Napier University for the MSc
in Investment Promotion and Economic Development.
